After some months of other business plus an annual preaching visit to the USA, I was able to return to what has become my favourite occupation, writing devotional commentaries on the books of the New Testament. The writing of this combined volume on Paul’s Letters to the churches in Rome and Corinth was a particularly demanding and satisfying task. At the beginning I didn’t give this series of books a particular title or theme, but having worked through the New Testament to this point I wish I had used the title that suggested itself to me after reading Pastor Stuart Olyott’s book ‘The Gospel as it really is.’ (Perhaps it is not too late.) I would give this series the title:
JESUS AS HE REALLY IS
It would not be an extravagant title. In the light of what the New Testament authors wrote about Jesus, and how his disciples came to know him, it would be modest and accurate.
I hope that you will purchase my earlier books on Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Acts, and so build up your own private collection of devotional reading material. As you use these books (at your own speed) you will find your knowledge of Jesus increasing and your love for Him glowing within your heart. You will also have so much to share with others when conversation turns to what they think and have to say about Him.
